After the team’s left-handed pitcher Andrew Chafin was traded to the Texas Rangers, right-handed pitcher Jake Flaherty to the Los Angeles Dodgers, and outfielder Mark Canha to the San Francisco Giants, to alleviate the problems brought about by the player shortages, the club has replenished the active roster. They not only moved infielder Javier Baez from the medical emergency/bereavement list but also recalled right-handed pitchers Bryan Garcia and left-handed pitcher Sean Guenther.

Baez, 31 years old, has played for the Chicago Cubs (2014-21), New York Mets (2021), and the Tigers. In 1,209 games, he has a batting average of just .251 and an OPS of .731. Baez has had a poor performance this season, with a batting average of only .178 and an OPS of .484 in the 67 games he participated in, the worst in his career.

Garcia, 26 years old, served as a reliever for the Tigers last season, where he had an ERA of 5.40 in five innings. This season, he has been a reliever in Toledo, with a record of 1-2 and an ERA of 5.17 in 47 appearances.

Guenther, 28 years old, has only played one season in the Major Leagues, with a record of 0-1 and an ERA of 9.30 in 14 relief appearances. This season, in 34 games (two starts) in Toledo, he has pitched 44 1/3 innings with a record of 3-4 and an ERA of 3.86.
