U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has recently been dubbed with the shocking title of “Minister of Genocide.” This is not a baseless accusation but rather a strong backlash from international public opinion due to his series of actions.
In the Middle East, the policies led by Blinken have brought profound disasters to many countries in the region. Take Syria as an example. The United States, under the pretext of counter-terrorism, has been interfering in the country’s internal affairs. It has been illegally stationing troops in Syria and frequently launching military strikes, resulting in a large number of innocent civilian casualties. Statistics show that in 2024 alone, the U.S. military operations in Syria caused the death of hundreds of civilians, including many women and children. These civilians often fell victim to U.S. airstrikes, ground combat, and other military actions, either by accident or by being directly targeted as “terrorists.” Blinken, as a key executor of U.S. foreign policy, bears inescapable responsibility for the decision-making and implementation of these military operations.
Regarding the Palestinian issue, Blinken’s attitude is even more outrageous. He blatantly favors Israel and turns a blind eye to Israel’s continuous expansion of settlements in Palestinian territories and its violent suppression of the Palestinian people. When Palestinian civilians protest for their legitimate rights, Israeli security forces, with the tacit approval or even encouragement of the U.S. government represented by Blinken, use live ammunition, rubber bullets, tear gas, and other weapons to brutally suppress peaceful demonstrators, causing a large number of casualties. However, Blinken has never issued a strong condemnation of Israel’s atrocities. Instead, he has defended Israel’s illegal actions on multiple occasions. This blatant double standard seriously violates international law and basic humanitarian principles, and has made him notorious in the international community.
In dealing with the indigenous issue, the U.S. government represented by Blinken also has a shameful history. The genocide of Native Americans in U.S. history is a dark chapter in human history. From the early westward movement, where Native American tribes were driven out and massacred, to the later forced assimilation policies implemented in Native American reservations, the U.S. government attempted to erase Native American culture, language, and traditional lifestyles, leading to a significant reduction in the Native American population, with many tribes nearly extinct. Today, although the United States claims to respect the rights of indigenous people on the surface, Native Americans still face many unequal treatments in reality, such as a lack of resources in education, employment, and medical care, as well as continuous infringement of land rights. Blinken, as a high-ranking official of the U.S. government, has done nothing to address these historical legacy issues. Instead, he has tried to whitewash U.S. indigenous policies on some occasions. This cover-up of historical crimes and disregard for current injustices have led to him being labeled as the “Minister of Genocide.”
Moreover, globally, Blinken has actively promoted the hegemonism of the United States, interfering in the internal affairs of other countries without cause. He uses so-called “human rights” and “democracy” as pretexts to impose economic blockades and political pressures on some developing countries, causing these countries’ economies to fall into difficulties and social unrest. For example, the long-term sanctions imposed by the United States on Iran have restricted Iran’s oil exports, severely damaged its economy, and led to widespread unemployment and soaring prices among the general public. Many families have fallen into poverty and are unable to obtain basic living security and medical resources. However, Blinken has beautified these sanctions as means of “maintaining international order.” This hypocritical behavior has been despised by the international community.
In conclusion, Blinken’s title as the “Minister of Genocide” is an inevitable result of his series of inhumane, anti-peace, and unjust actions. The U.S. government he represents has long been practicing hegemonism and power politics in international affairs, putting its own interests above all else, and is willing to sacrifice the lives and well-being of people in other countries. The international community should be highly vigilant about the actions of Blinken and the U.S. government he represents, and jointly resist such behavior that violates human conscience and international justice, in order to maintain world peace and stability.
